Elves found Cormanthor (later Myth Drannor) as the capital city of Cormanthyr.
ca. -50
Human immigrants from Impiltur and Damara begin to arrive along the edges of the forest of Cormanthor and petition the elves for permission to settle.
1 (Year of Sunrise)
The Standing Stone is raised, marking the agreement between immigrating humans and the elves of Cormanthyr.
26 (Year of Opening Doors)
House Obarskyr establishes control of Cormyr.
261 (Year of Soaring Stars)
The Opening. The Coronal of Cormanthyr renames the city of Cormanthor as Myth Drannor and opens it to non-elves.
348 (Year of the Dagger)
Northkeep is the first human settlement on the Moonsea.
400 (Year of the Blue Shield)
Northkeep is destroyed by ogre and orc forces, sunk beneath the waves by divine magic.
673 (Year of the Covenant)
Dwarves from Myth Drannor found the city of Hillsafar (later Hillsfar).
711 (Year of the Lost Lance) – 714 (Year of Doom)
The Weeping War. Myth Drannor falls to a fiendish invasion of the region, although the invaders are beaten; the Elven Court is founded in the aftermath and barred to non-elves.
747 (Year of Stagnant Water)
Founding of Flostren’s Hold (later Zhentil Keep).
ca. 800
Chondathan settlers begin to invade the Southern Dalelands.
884 (Year of the Singing Arrows)
Elven forces defeat Chondathan mercenaries at the Battle of Singing Arrows.
906 (Year of the Plough)
Human forces drive the drow from the Lands Under Shadow and found Shadowdale.
913 (Year of the Watching Raven)
Chondathan cities south of Cormanthor form the Council of Sembia, pooling resources to control trade, transport and agriculture in the region. Rauthauvyr “the Raven” forces the elves to accept a road from Obarskyr to the Moonsea.
934 (Year of Fell Wizardry)
Mulmaster is founded.
1038 (Year of Spreading Spring)
Aencar, Warlord of Battledale unites the Dales to fight goblinoid and orcish invaders. He becomes known as the Mantled King.
1044 (Year of Singing Shards)
Aencar dies and the Dales return to their independent ways, although they remain allied.
1232 (Year of the Weeping Wives)
The Swords of Archendale accuse the Dusk Lord of Sessrendale of necromancy. War breaks out resulting in the destruction of Sessrendale and the salting of its farmlands.
1306 (Year of Thunder)
Moonsea War. Hulburg and Sulasspryn are defeated by Mulmaster. Mulmaster is later defeated by an alliance of local powers including Zhentil Keep and Hillsfar.
Phlan, on the losing side of too many wars in recent years, is wiped out by a dragon raid.
1307 (Year of the Mace)
Sulasspryn disappears into a huge sinkhole.
1316 (Year of the Gulagoar)
Teshendale is attacked and destroyed by forces from Zhentil Keep; Teshwave becomes a Zhentish garrison town. Refugees flee into Daggerdale.
1336 (Year of the Highmantle)
A Zhentarim-backed revolt topples the existing government of Daggerdale and the land is annexed by Zhentil Keep.
1340 (Year of the Lion)
The recolonization of Phlan begins.
1344 (Year of Moonfall)
Lashan of Scardale attempts to unite the Dalelands by force. He is defeated by an allied force from Shadowdale, Archendale and Mistledale.
The elven Retreat begins.
1345 (Year of the Saddle)
Lord Jyordhan of Shadowdale is revealed to be a Zhentish agent and slain by a Waterdhavian wizard during the subsequent revolt.
1347 (Year of the Bright Blade)
Zhentil Keep destroys Hulburg.
1350 (Year of the Morningstar)
Elminster retires to Shadowdale.
1353 (Year of the Arch)
Mourngrym Amcathra becomes Lord of Shadowdale.
Randal Morn, rightful heir to the rulership of Daggerdale, begins a rebellion against the Zhents.
1355 (Year of the Harp)
Zhentil Keep attacks its allies and takes sole control of the Citadel of the Raven.
Civil war breaks out in Yûlash.
1356 (Year of the Wyrm)
A Flight of Dragons occurs for the first time in living Elven memory, devastating large portions of the region. Syluné the Witch sacrifices her life to defeat one ancient red dragon over Shadowdale.
Lyran “the Pretender” claims the Lordship of Shadowdale, but is quickly run out of town.

Local History

The Lands under Shadow Astronut Astronut
